Neighborhood Block Party Permit

Due to COVID-19, we will not approve Block Party Permits for events any earlier than June 1, 2021 or pending public health guidelines on community gatherings.

Are you having a neighborhood block party or neighborhood event like a Movie in a Park? Please review the following information to determine if you should apply for a Neighborhood Block Party permit. There is NO cost and many benefits.

What Is a Neighborhood Block Party?

A neighborhood block party is any event open to your neighbors to be held within your neighborhood or in your neighborhood park. 

The following rules apply to all neighborhood block parties at Arvada Public Parks:

  • Jumpy Castles: If jumpy castles/tents will be staked, a site map is required to prevent damage to park irrigation systems.
  • Park Pavilion: If the park has a rentable park pavilion, you must reserve the pavilion.
  • Petting zoo, farm and livestock animals: not allowed on turf areas.
  • The park must remain open to the public.
  • Amplified noise must adhere to the city noise ordinance.
  • All City parks close at 11 p.m. per city parks ordinance.

You Will Need a Neighborhood Block Party Permit if:

  • you are hosting the event in a public park.
  • you are requesting a street closure.

Even if you are not required to get a permit, there are many benefits to doing so...

  • City departments (like Parks Maintenance and Traffic) are automatically notified of your event, making your event more successful.
  • While there is no guarantee that they will be able to attend, a block party permit notifies Arvada Police Department and Arvada Fire Protection District of your event for safety purposes and community-building.
  • A block party permit connects you with our Neighborhood Engagement Coordinator, who can grant you access to city-wide resources for your neighborhood!

Before You Begin

**PLEASE NOTE**: All applications must be submitted no later than 2 weeks prior to the scheduled event.

Tips for filling out online application:

  • Under job value, use “0”.  This is the cost of the permit.
  • “Location of event” is the description of where the event will take place.  (E.g. 59th pl cul-de-sac)
  • “Location” ties your application to a specific address. If your event is in a City park, you can use the Parks and Trails map to search the address.
  • Printing approved permits: Once your permit has been approved, go into the eTRAKiT system and retrieve your permit under “Attachments”

*Note: If you reserved the Block Party Trailer, the required Type III barricades are provided inside.  If you are not reserving the Block Party Trailer, ​you make pick up Type III barricades from City Hall free of charge.
