In response to COVID-19, eligible residents may receive energy bill payment assistance two times during the program year, while not exceeding total program year benefit of $1,500. This program year runs October 2020 through September 30, 2021.

The City of Arvada receives a grant from Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC) to provide financial assistance with Xcel bills to Arvada residents who are at risk of having their electric and/or gas service disconnected. Financial assistance is made available to help those behind in paying their gas and/or electric bill because of adverse one-time circumstances in their lives such as illness, loss of job. or high medical bills. Residents can receive this assistance only once during this time, and assistance is disbursed on are first come first served basis. If funds are exhausted, applicants must wait until the beginning of the next quarter. However you must apply with the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) first before EOC can assist. Current bills are not eligible. If your bill is at least one day delinquent or if you have received a shut off notice from Xcel Energy, assistance is available.
Criteria for this assistance:
- Must be an Arvada resident
- Applicants must apply to LEAP first, and provide proof they have been denied, approved, or don't qualify for LEAP
- Bill has to be at least one day in the arrears
- Valid ID
- Xcel bill must be in the applicants name and/or be on that specific account.
EOC can still provide assistance once LEAP has assisted or denied help. EOC funds can not be used for connections, reconnection or deposits.
